Drifting is a technique used through a turn to change a vehicles attitude for a proper exit. Practicing this technique is good for a vehicle that has under or over-steer problems in cornering (This is used in Rallying but also useful in Road Racing.).

Drifting is a high–skill level motor–sport in which drivers control a car while it slides (or “drifts”) from side to side at high speed (approx. 80 to 100kph) through a fixed tarmac course.

It is judged on speed, angle of attack, execution and style rather than just who finishes fastest. Drift cars are typically compact to mid – sized rear wheel drive cars. The goal is to apply enough power to the rear wheels to break the tires traction and initiate a slide while accelerating the vehicle forward, “drift”. Once a drift is initiated, it must be maintained through the turn using nearly a full throttle, a tap of braking and precise counter steering.
